husker du albums - the indignities they suffered
No band has ever meant more to me than Husker Du. I don't listen to them much now but they were my ultimate adolescent band, they did everything that music could do for me then. They were fierce, violent, supremely demented in their early sound (up to New Day Rising more or less.) I had never heard music that combined the visceral and the pretty, such unlikely bedfellows.

So I made the albums suffer in buying them, like a badge of pride. Zen Arcade I bought on a day out in London and then had to stash it behind some bins next to the Kilburn Ballroom when I went to see The The that night. (Boring gig)

Metal Circus I bought in some little record shop in the south of france interrailing and it was very warped by the time I got back home.

I wanted to say to my friends HUSKER DU!!!! Listen to HUSKER DU!!!! NOT HAWKWIND OR TRAFFIC OR THE COCTEAU TWINS!!!!!
